670 Running With Ronnie

Ronald David Wood was born on June 1st, 1947, in London, and he made his first appearances on record during the mid '60s, first as guitarist for the Birds  and  joined the Jeff Beck Group in 19 67 as a bass player.
When Beck's group split in 19 69,  he  and Rod Stewart  joined former  Ronnie Lane, Ian McLagan and Kenney Jones in a new group named, Faces.
In 19 74 he had a solo album,  I've Got My Own Album to Do, with his name miss spelled on the cover. The album featured Ian McLagan, former Beatle George Harrison and longtime friend , Keith Richards. Richards invited him to join the Rolling Stones when Mick Taylor left the band. He  joined in 19 75, but wasn't officially in the band until Bill Wyman left in 19 93.
By now, it must be obvious that we are talking about Ronnie Wood, the subject of this week's trick's synthetic countdown.
Ronnie has a long standing interest in Thoroughbred breeding and racing. He is a well known artist, whose paintings, drawings and prints  have been exhibited all over the world.
and He has made cameo appearances in several movies including 9 and a half Weeks , appeared in the mockumentary, The Rutles, All You Need Is Cash and In October 2007 he appeared on Top Gear, Ronnie Wood, someone who has captured lightening in a bottle many times during his career.

They were usually just out of sight of the cameras and seldom mentioned on record credits, but the ladies and men who sang backup were the voices who added the spice to many memorable songs of our lives. So, while we may not know their names as we do the lead acts, names like Juanita "Honey" Franklin, Linda Lewis, Claudia Lennear, and many others added the spice we so needed in popular music.

To celebrate these under recognized vocalists, this week we present a Claudia Lennear who who began her career as an Ikette and later sang with Joe Cocker and Leon Russell.  She appeared briefly in the 1974 film, "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" and was featured in a 1974 issue of Playboy. She and other unsung musical backup vocalists were the subject of the 2013 documentary "20 Feet From Stardom."

663 One Bad Dude!

Paul Vaughn Butterfield, born December 17, 1942, was an American blues harmonica player, singer and band leader.  He explored the blues scene in his native Chicago, where he met Muddy Waters and other blues greats, who provided encouragement and opportunities for him to join in jam sessions.
 He formed the Paul Butterfield Blues Band in 1963 and had several successful blues albums. They band played  Monterrey Pop, Woodstock, the Fillmore West and East with a fusion of electric Chicago blues with a rock urgency and pioneered a jazz fusion until the bands breaking up in 1971.  He then formed Butterfield's Better Days, playing with Muddy Waters, and with members of the Band. A great harp went silent when Paul Butterfield died on May 4, 1987, of an accidental overdose.

From his early days as a song writer of "This Diamond Ring" to Music Director for the television series "Crime Story," Al Kooper has been a great influence in American pop music. He was a founding member of The Blues Project and Blood, Sweat, and Tears, shared albums with Michael Bloomfield and Shuggie Otis. Al Kooper, Produced Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Tubes, and more. But while he may not be the first name to come to mind when you think of classic music of the later decades of the 20th century, Al has surely made his mark as  a stellar musician and on heck of a sideman.
