Deep Elem Blues has been covered by countless bands through the decades and continues to be a popular song today. It is an ode to a part of east Dallas which was originally the urban hub for African American commerce during the early twentieth century...today it has re-emerged as a hip residential and shopping area for the hot rod and tattoo crowd around Big D and of course, the tourists.
