519: Thanksgiving Austin Style

On Thanksgiving Day 1972, at Austin's Armadillo World Head Quarters music history was made when Jerry Garcia along with the Dead's Phil Lesh, Sir Doug Sahm, and Leon Russell joined local musicians from the 13th Floor Elevators, Shiva’s Headband, and Greezy Wheels for a Thanksgiving Jam session. Among the songs selected were some classic cover tunes which we count down this week on Trick's Cover Countdown. While the sound quality isn't the best, remember you're listening to history in the making. Besides, it does sound better than an FDR fireside chat:

10 High Heel Sneakers (Tommy Tucker)
9 Stormy Monday (T Bone Walker)
8 T For Texas (Jimmie Rogers)
7 Come On In My Kitchen (Robert Johnson)
6 I'm So Lonesone I Could Die (Hank Williams)

 Pilgrim
Non-Pilgrim

4 Big Boss Man (Jimmy Reed)
 3 Wild Horses (Rolling Stones)
2 It Takes A Lot To Laugh...(Bob Dylan)
1 Roll Over Beethoven (Chuck Berry)
00 Slippin' Into Christmas - Leon Russell

5 Hey Bo Diddley (Bo Diddley)
4 Big Boss Man (Jimmy Reed)
 3 Wild Horses (Rolling Stones)
2 It Takes A Lot To Laugh...(Bob Dylan)
1 Roll Over Beethoven (Chuck Berry)
00 Slippin' Into Christmas - Leon Russell
