James "Jim" Keltner was born April 27, 1942 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and is an American drummer and percussionist known for his session work. He was inspired to start playing because of his interest in jazz, but it was the explosion of rock that enabled him to break into recording work in Los Angeles. His first work as a session musician was on Gary Lewis's "She's Just My Style."
He teamed up with fellow Tulsa native, Leon Russell, to play on Delaney & Bonnie's Accept No Substitute, and with Joe Cocker on his Mad Dogs & Englishmen tour. This led to work with Carly Simon, Booker T. Jones, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, John Lennon, Harry Nilsson , Little Village, Ry Cooder, and many other pop music notables. In 1989, Keltner toured with Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band. He is also known a Buster Sidebury in the Traveling Wilburys. Here's a sample of his talent:
